Compendial Genus and Species Background

The genus and species names can all be found somewhere in the USP. Chapter 51, Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing, includes Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus brasiliensis, along with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Chapter 71, Sterility Tests includes Bacillus subtilis and Clostridium sporogenes as well. USP chapter <63> Mycoplasma Tests includes Acholeplasma laidlawii along with other mycoplasma species.
